Arrivals and Departures

All arrivals and departures for regional, domestic and international flights are from the main terminal – T1.  The only exception is arrivals only for Rex (Regional Air Express) which come through Terminal T1A (the former international terminal). See the Grounds Map

The International meet and greet area is located on the ground floor (Level 0) between Travelex and Hudsons Café. See Floor Plan


ATMs

Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are located within T1 on both the Ground Level and Level 2.


Baggage Re-Claim

Baggage re-claim is located on the Ground Level - please refer to the Flight Information Display TV screens for the baggage re-claim belt number. Baggage trolleys will be located nearby and are free of charge.

If your baggage is missing or damaged, please proceed to the clearly sign-posted baggage service desk for your respective airline in the baggage hall.


Cabin Baggage

All cabin baggage will be security screened prior to boarding. Your airline will advise what weight and size limitations exist for your aircraft.

X-ray equipment used at Adelaide Airport does not damage Computer CPU’s or memory, computer storage media such as magnetic disks (hard drives, floppy disks etc) and other devices (CDs), cameras (including digital cameras with electronic storage media) or photographic film below asa 1000 (developed or undeveloped).


Car Parking & Security

Both short term and long term car parking is available within Adelaide Airport with a regular shuttle bus service connecting the long term car park with T1. Parking is at your own risk, however security patrols Adelaide Airport grounds 24 hours a day, including the car park.

Car Park Shuttle Bus (terminal and car park service)

The Adelaide Airport T1 Shuttle Bus operates daily between the long term car park and Terminal 1. The free service commences at approximately 4.30am, providing a continuous loop service.

Passengers can board the Shuttle Bus service from T1 at the southern end of Level 2, next to the Adelaide Metro bus stop, or alternatively from the QF Pay Station within the long term car park.

There is no charge and bookings are not required. The circuit takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Click here for a timetable.


Checking In

Passenger check-in facilities are located on Level 2 immediately inside the elevated road drop-off points. Flight departure and arrival times and respective gate allocations are clearly displayed on Flight Information Display TV screens throughout the terminal.

Check in counter information for each airline is available on the large central Flight Information Display on Level 2 just before the security screening point.

Assistance is also available from airline staff and Airport Ambassadors.

Remember that each airline has different requirements as to how soon before your flight you must check in, so please check with your individual airline.

You are requested to be in the vicinity of your boarding gate at least 45 minutes prior to departure for international services and 30 minutes for most domestic air services.

International passengers will need to go through a secondary screening and custom processing point in order to reach your gate.

Tiger Airways requests check-in 2 hours prior to departure. Check-in closes 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.

Group Check-In will be coordinated by your travel agent and airline of choice.

All airlines listed utilise T1's common user check-in area, with the exception of Air South Regional, Corporate Aircraft Charter, Dick Lang's Desert Air and Rossair Charter. Please contact these airlines directly for their check-in requirements.

Children’s Play Area

Keeping children entertained is the key to a smooth journey. The Children’s Play Area, opposite Hudsons Coffee on Level 2, has an indoor playground, children’s videos and comfortable seating for parents. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Duty Free Shopping

Duty Free shopping outlets are conveniently located for both arriving and departing passengers. Items can be pre-purchased and collected on arrival. Sales are subject to Australian Government limitations and age restrictions on cigarettes and liquor. Please see section below on carriage of Liquids Aerosols and Gels

First Aid Facilities

First Aid facilities and trained staff are available within T1. South Australian Ambulance services are located less than 1km from the terminal. Airport Fire and Rescue paramedics are also available on call. Please note that to make an emergency phone call anywhere in Australia, dial Triple Zero – ‘000’.

Green Terminal

Adelaide Airport is partly powered by one of South Australia’s largest solar-powered systems. It is estimated the 760 individual solar photovoltaic panels generate 160 megawatt hours of renewable electricity for T1 every year.

GST Refund - Tourist Refund Scheme

As a tourist, you are able to obtain a refund of the GST paid on goods purchased in Australia and being taken overseas. Please present the purchased goods and proof of purchase at the Australian Customs refund desk located in the Primary International Departure gate area. Need some assistance? Our friendly Airport Ambassadors are located in the baggage re-claim hall on the ground level and in the main check-in hall on Level 2 and can be identified by their burgundy jackets.

Information and Tourist Bookings

Adelaide offers a wealth of accommodation from budget choices to the finest five-star luxury, including resort hotels, apartments, self-catering, backpackers and welcoming B&Bs.

Accommodation and tours can be pre-booked at the South Australian Visitors Centre on the Ground Level of T1. The friendly staff can provide information on places to visit and stay while in South Australia and make bookings on your behalf.  They can also help you with your general airport enquiries. Liquids, Aerosols and Gels - security rules for international passengers

To increase your safety, the Australian Government has introduced rules about taking liquids, aerosols and gels on flights into and out of Australia. Each container of liquids, aerosols and gels in your carry-on baggage must be 100 millilitres or less and all the containers must be sealed in a single transparent one litre plastic bag (one per person).

Any items not meeting this requirement need to be placed in your hold-stowed luggage before you go through the primary security screening point. The new rules apply to drinks, creams, perfumes, sprays, gels, toothpaste, lipstick, lip balm and similar substances.

Lockers

There are three (3) different locker sizes available for customer and passenger use. The width and depth of each are the same, only the height changes.

Lockers are located adjacent the car rental offices in the Terminal 1 car park.

Large Storage Facilities

There are no large storage facilities available at the airport. The only storage available are lockers as stated above.

Leaving Keys or Documents

Keys, documents and other such items cannot be left at the airport or with airport staff. This is a security requirement. The only storage facilities are lockers as stated above.

Medical Centre - WorkAir

WorkAir is a medical practice specialising in occupational medicine, aviation medicine, general medicine and occupational safety.  Located within the Adelaide Airport precinct (off James Schofield Drive) the practice caters to the occupational health and safety needs of businesses not only at the airport but across South Australia.

WorkAir also provides a GP (General Practice) service for the airport community. EFTPOS, HICAPS and Medicare On-line facilities are all available on the premises.

Operating Hours for Terminal 1

Terminal 1 operating hours are between 4.15am and 11.00pm daily (or after last departure).  Please note the terminal is not open overnight or outside these hours.

Paging

Adelaide Airport Limited does not page and it is left to the discretion of each airline. If you need to page someone in the terminal contact your airline.

Persons with Disabilities

Our main terminal T1, along with our car parks and pathways, have been designed and constructed to the latest Australian Standards for persons with disabilities. Airline staff will be happy to assist you to and from your aircraft and through the border agencies process. You should advise your airline in advance of any assistance you may require.

Promotions Booth

A special Adelaide Airport Promotions Booth is available for use by event organisers as a central ‘meet and greet’ point for interstate and international delegates and guests. Retail Shops/Services and Refreshments

A wide range of facilities are available in the T1 Shopping precinct along the main concourse and ground floor. Uniquely South Australian outlets such as Icons South Australia, Coopers General Store, Cibo and Cocolat are among more than 25 outlets offering a great choice of food & beverage including licensed premises, fashion and gifts as well as travel necessities.

Rex (Regional Air Express) departures and arrivals

All Rex departures are from Gate 10 and Gate 12 on Level 2, Northern Concourse. All Rex arrivals are at the T1A terminal on Level 0 (ground level). As you approach the main entrance to T1, turn to the left and follow the signs to T1A.

Shrink-wrapping luggage

There are no facilities at the terminal to shrink-wrap luggage. Contact your closest Pack Send outlet for assistance.

 

Skylink Airport Shuttle Bus

Skylink Airport Shuttle specialises in providing a regular scheduled bus service between Adelaide Airport, Keswick Interstate Railway Terminal and the  Adelaide CBD. This service also includes set downs and pick ups from most major city hotels. Skylink Airport Shuttle Bus operates every day of the year, excluding Christmas Day.The Skylink Airport Shuttle Bus is located in the Valet area on the ground level of T1. Transport to and from Adelaide Airport

  • Private vehicle short term and long term parking is available.
  • A taxi rank is located directly out the front of T1 on the ground level.
  • Chauffeured limousines and hire cars can be pre-booked to pick up or drop off at the airport.
  • An airport-city shuttle bus operates regularly departing directly adjacent Valet Parking on the Ground Level. Click here for more details.
  • Public transport buses pick up and drop off from the bus stop to the southwest of T1 on Level 2 (turn left as you exit the terminal). Buses travel to and from the City, Glenelg and the north eastern suburbs. Click here to go to the Adelaide Metro website.
  • Car rental desks are located on the ground level adjacent the baggage re-claim area.


Travelling with pets

Adelaide Airport Limited advises that animals are not permitted in Adelaide Airport Terminal 1 or Terminal 1A at any time, with the exception of service animals (eg Guide dogs and Australian Quarantine Inspection Service dogs).

All airline carriers will only accept animals through relevant freight terminals. If you are wishing to travel with animals on the same flight (accompanied) you will need to book through your airline carrier. You should also check in advance about procedures for checking animals on to a flight and picking up animals on your return.

Remember to leave sufficient additional time before your flight to check animals with the airline’s freight handler before proceeding to Terminal 1 for your own check-in.Also remember to ask your airline at the time of booking for the carrier’s rules and allowances regarding the carriage of animals.
