Harbour Town

Brand Direct Concept

Dedicated and purpose built Brand Direct Outlet Centres are a popular sector of retailing throughout the United Kingdom, Europe the United States and now rapidly evolving in Australia. Brand direct retailing allows manufacturers to promote the image of the company, reinforce the brand name, centralise distribution of excess product, utilise excess materials, control manufacturing productivity, and test new products direct to the general public at attractive price discounts.

Expansion of some 7,500m2 of brand direct retail occurred in 2005 to compliment the previous 12,500m2 Harbour Town complex on Airport land adjacent to West Beach, which was first opened in October 2003.
There are over 90 specialities stores within Harbour Town.
The Design Features of the Harbour Town Brand Direct Centre include:

  • Over 20,000 square metres of net lettable area in total, configured into a variety of shop sizes, all with frontage facing an internal streetscape.
  • Single level open-air L shaped pedestrian street, characterised by landscaping, street furniture, signage and graphics.
  • Alfresco cafe and restaurant activity located centrally adjacent to an observation terrace with views to airport activity, including helicopter operations.
  • Signage, awnings, lighting and street furniture designed to represent a holiday shopping environment.
  • Excellent vehicular access providing approximately 1,050 spaces, in a landscaped car park.
  • Tourist bus facilities centrally located close to Centre Management, tourist lounge facilities and Information Centre.
  • Commuter Bus Stop providing connection to Adelaide City.

Location

Harbour Town is strategically located adjacent to Tapley's Hill Road, a major north-south traffic route in Adelaide's western suburbs and on the western boundary of Adelaide Airport, approximately eight kilometres from the CBD. Tapley's Hill Road provides easy access to West Beach and Glenelg, two popular tourist localities for both locals and visitors to Adelaide.

Due to the relatively compact nature of the Adelaide CBD and the effective road networks, Harbour Town is accessible to a large population base in the central part of Adelaide as well in a mid point within the linear style metropolitan area.

Harbour Town has excellent exposure to passing traffic, with Tapley's Hill Road being one of the busiest arterial roads in Adelaide subject to around 32,000 passing vehicles per day.
